KOENIGSEGG is back with a bang, and now it is with KOENIGSEGG GEMERA. KOENIGSEGG GEMERA is the first HYBRID CAR from KOENIGSEGG. It is the first production car with many new things. It is the first KOENIGSEGG’S four-seat hypercar. GEMERA is conceived is such a way, that it has everything, YOU NAME IT!! Let us see some features and the specs of GEMERA:
As shown in the figure, it has two massive electric motors at the rear side, operating two wheels independently and one motor coupled to the three-cylinder engine on the prop shaft.
Each rear motor produces 500HP and 1000Nm torque, the 3-cylinder engine produces 600HP and 600Nm torque coupled with another 600Nm torque and 400HP motor on the prop shaft, on total GEMERA is powered with 1700HP (with some considerations and losses). The gear ratios are 3.325 : 1 at the rear side and 2.69 : 1 in the front. By doing some simple math with gear ratios and torque produced at each motor and the engine, the total torque produced is around 9600Nm. However, it is not the total torque, and more 1600Nm torque is procured from the TORQUE CONVERTER present in the front.The total torque is 11000Nm. The motors draw power from 16KWh, 800V battery pack.

THE TINY FRIENDLY GIANT (TFG) ENGINE
The Tiny Friendly Giant is the name given to the 2-liter, 3-cylinder inline engine. It is the first-ever three-cylinder engine from KOENIGSEGG.
WHY IS IT SPECIAL ENOUGH TO HAVE THE NAME?
It is enthralling because it solely can produce 600HP and 600Nm which is exclusively for front-wheel drive (GEMERA is an AWD car). Each cylinder has 95mm bore and 93.5mm stroke and the REDLINE is 8500RPM

KOENIGSEGG GEMERA’S FREE VALVE TECHNOLOGY
Free valve technology is a replacement for traditional camshaft. Instead, electronic controlled pneumatic actuators are implemented.
WHAT IT DOES?
In this FREE VALVE TECHNOLOGY, the camshaft is replaced by the rail and pneumatic actuators. The downward movement of the valve (opening) is done by pneumatic pressure and the upward movement of the valve(closing) is done by oil pressure, by controlling the pneumatic pressure and oil pressure the dwell period can be achieved. In addition, the GEMERAS engine is a fully variable valve lift(VVL) and fully variable valve time (VVT), which increases the economy and speed indeed.

THE TWIN TURBOCHARGER IN KOENIGSEGG GEMERA
The TINY FRIENDLY GIANT is charged with two turbochargers. The two turbochargers are equally fixed to the three cylinders. Each cylinder has two exhaust ports, and they are connected to two turbochargers. At low RPM, the exhaust gases are omitted out from only one exhaust port. At this moment, the function of turbochargers is not at full potential. At higher RPMs from 2000-7000RPM, the exhaust gases are emitted out from two exhaust ports, at this moment, the turbo boost pressure is 29 psi, which leads to an upsurge in torque up to 600nm.
All these features made a 2-liter, 3-cylinder inline engine a GIANT, and the complexity is meticulously broken down.
